Breadth of Product Line. You can buy siphons from Fluid Dynamic Siphons, Inc. in a variety of diameters and drawdowns achieving flow rates from 25GPM to over 1800GPM.
Dual alternating and sequential siphoning is supported.
Materials. Fluid Dynamic Siphons are made from polyethylene, not PVC. Polyethylene is less brittle and more flexible.
Also, PE has a lower coefficient of friction than PVC. Together, these material properties mean it is rare for a polyethylene siphon to fail due to rupture under freezing conditions.
Also, during installation and repair, the siphon is less likely to be damaged by drops, falls, impacts and the like.
Molded Siphon. Fluid Dynamic Siphons are molded, not fabricated.
This means a molded siphon is one piece where (1) there are no seams or joints in the siphon to fail and (2) the top of the bell can be flat.
The second factor comes into play because it is important that the invert of the siphon be flat at the top in order to force as large an air bubble as possible across the invert
of the siphon as the siphon comes into operation. This is not possible with off-the-shelf PVC fittings because they usually have a round cross-section.
Siphons are not Mechanical. Siphons have no moving parts (unlike a pump).
Moving parts fail and pumps need to be replaced. Siphons may last as long as the laws that govern fluid dynamics.
Siphons Require No Electricity. Siphons will work when electrical service is disrupted or where electricity is not available.
